Engineering team turns 'we should do something with AI' into costed use cases and a governance model
A large benefits-administration company.
The problem
Engineering leadership at a large benefits-administration company wanted to bring large language models into product development but had no shared view of where AI would pay off, who would own it, or how to organize the effort. The work had to align with the parent's AI center of excellence, and the team needed use cases with defensible economics rather than generic enthusiasm.
Why it mattered
Without a plan, AI work would remain a scatter of individual experiments with no budget, owner or measurable return while the market moved ahead.
What we did
Vizius acted as a fractional chief AI officer for three months. It interviewed stakeholders and reviewed engineering processes, then narrowed the field to a few use cases with modeled return, such as living documentation generated from the codebase, a developer question-and-answer assistant and basic QA automation, packaged in a three-month roadmap and a center-of-excellence handbook defining roles, governance and success metrics.
What changed
Vizius delivered the AI roadmap, use-case summaries with return models, and the center-of-excellence handbook set.
