Distributor turns a cyber insurance application into an evidence-backed audit of its own controls
A regional industrial distributor. Outcome verified
The problem
A growing regional industrial distributor had decided cyber insurance was essential, but the application asked dozens of detailed questions about security controls and the IT team had no organized evidence behind its answers. Leadership worried that a good-faith 'yes' could later be treated as a misstatement. The controls were spread across a small team's consoles, network appliances and finance processes that had never been written down.
Why it mattered
Insurers were auditing attestations and denying claims where controls could not be proven, so an unsupported answer put the payout at risk when the company would need it most.
What we did
Vizius treated the application itself as the audit framework. It interviewed staff, reviewed each console, ran an external scan, a dark-web search and a phishing test, then attached evidence to every technical question so the attestation could be defended, and ranked the gaps by risk.
What changed
The company received an evidence-backed response to every technical question on both applications plus a prioritized list of 13 control gaps. The phishing test showed roughly 10 percent of staff engaged and 6 percent clicked, the baseline for a monthly awareness program.
