Growing distributor learns its whole operation depends on one IT person
A fast-growing automotive parts distributor. Outcome verified
The problem
A fast-growing automotive parts distributor had expanded from one warehouse to several, moved its headquarters and was planning international expansion. All of its technology depended on one person and a string of short-term, cost-driven decisions, with no backup policy and no central logging. Leadership did not know where it stood or what to fix first.
Why it mattered
The company's reputation rests on on-time delivery. A ransomware event or the loss of its only IT resource could halt operations, and sensitive pricing data sat behind logins without multi-factor authentication.
What we did
Vizius ran a CIS Controls assessment but saw the scores were too low to be a useful organizing frame. It reorganized the 24 findings around business risk and fix order, led with the missing IT program and the single point of failure, and paired each item with who should own it: a managed service provider or a fractional CIO/CISO.
What changed
Leadership received a prioritized 24-item roadmap, a phishing baseline (8 of 47 recipients clicked, about 17 percent) and a compromised-credential report. Vizius then helped compare MSP quotes against the findings list.
