The compliant enclave was sound, but the production machines connecting to it kept falling out of compliance

A global additive-manufacturing equipment maker. Outcome verified

The problem

A global additive-manufacturing equipment maker had built a segregated environment for export-controlled technical data. Its industrial printers and workstations served both commercial and regulated work and could operate in either environment. As the fleet grew, machines left too long on the commercial side quietly lost their standing and could no longer reach the regulated environment. Some had been offline for a year, across several sites.

Why it mattered

The company faced a fixed regulatory deadline, a machine that cannot reach the compliant environment cannot lawfully do regulated work, and rebuilding production machines on that deadline was unrealistic for a small team.

What we did

Vizius treated the drift as a maintenance problem rather than a series of one-off repairs. It recovered the stranded machines in place, with rebuilds only as a fallback, and wrote a quarterly maintenance procedure and checklist the customer's own IT staff can complete in a few hours per device, training site teams during the same visits.

What changed

On-site reconciliation at both sites was completed and the maintenance documentation delivered ahead of the regulatory deadline. The project closed on schedule.

Sound familiar?

  • Our machines have to work in both the ITAR environment and our normal network
  • Some enclave devices haven't checked in for months
  • Who maintains the enclave endpoints once the project team leaves?
How we did it

CUI & ITAR Enclave Design and Build

"How much of the company really has to be in scope?"

We wall regulated engineering and CAD work into a contained, documented environment, built from code so it can be rebuilt and audited, and keep the rest of the business out of the boundary.
